PEEK Tube has the strength required to withstand continuous use at HPLC pressure without swelling or bursting, and is not affected by halide salts, high strength buffers, or other aggressive mobile phases that corrode stainless steel. The polymer surface will not leach metal ions into the eluent or extract metal-sensitive components from the sample.
PEEK tube is an extremely tough, wear resistant plastic with excellent resistance to high temperatures and energy radiation. It is very dimensionally stable and has a high mechanical bearing strength. PEEK tube also offers excellent chemical resistance and a high resistance to hydrolysis, even against super-heated steam. PEEK tube is also electrically insulating and has good sliding properties. It is easy to machine and is FDA approved for use with food.
PEEK acts as an excellent alternative for stainless steel tubing in high pressure applications and analytical systems. Its mechanical properties allow it to be used in many situations where stainless steel would become too reactive. Unlike stainless steel, PEEK tubing is flexible and can be easily cut into preferred lengths with a razor blade. PEEKs internal surface is much smoother than that of metal tubing, thereby reducing the risk of dilution and remixing of samples.
